Mirthas
Sculpted by hand using locally sourced Far North Queensland clay, created in Cairns, Qld, Australia.
Mirthas was inspired by the elemental spirits that dwell in thriving natural spaces like forests and waterways. He was inspired by the spirit of a Eucalyptus tree with beautiful unique splotches along its trunk made by insects. A glaze was formulated from a Burgundy Gloss base with explosions of gold and turquoise to mimic the shapes on the tree.
Then once fired, a headpiece was created from polymer clay and various other materials to mimic autumnal the leaves on the tree.
